Do you ever wonder how everyone affords to travel? Or how that one person goes on all those amazing trips while you’re stuck at home? Do you want to travel? Do you want to travel for free?
Credit card miles are nothing new, they’ve been around for 40+ years, yet so few take advantage of them.
We’re here to change that. This simple guide will show you how to cash in on the best perk ever created – FREE TRAVEL.
The best way to start traveling for free is by using a credit card with a great introductory bonus miles offer.
There are several offers out there, but we always recommend Capital One, as they provide the easiest way to redeem your miles.
Our favorite travel card is the Venture by Capital One.
After you’ve signed-up for your new card and are accepted, you will need to spend the required minimum amount in the timespan allotted for the bonus.
There are several cards to choose from, each with their own spend requirements, bonuses, prices, and perks.
Depending on your specific card, the required minimum needed to be spent is typically $2,000-5,000 in the first 2-4 months of opening your account.
That’s it! After you reached your spending requirement and paid your bills on time, your miles will typically be applied to your account within a few weeks.
You can then redeem your miles at your particular card’s website or app, where you can book flights or hotels, and pay with your miles.
Again, our favorite first card is the Venture card by Capital One because it’s so easy to earn and redeem your miles.
Some Things To Think About Before Applying for Your New Travel Card
If you’re currently in credit card debt and cannot pay off your total balance, we suggest visiting our Get Out of Debt guide first, follow the steps there, and then come back here when you’re ready.
Also, we do not recommend going into any sort of new debt in order to spend the required minimum. Rather, we suggest only applying for a new travel card if you already spend the amount needed to reach the card’s bonus spend requirement, or if you know that you will be making a large purchase, like a new television, appliances, furniture, etc. No New Debt.
* Check your specific card for the spend-minimum required to receive your sign-up bonus.
** Most cards have an annual fee, typically around $100, but it can be more.
